As a well-known singer in the pop industry, Adele's brand identity is imperative to portraying her in a way that will corroberate with the music she sings. Primarily known for her songs that revolve around deep emotional feelings and heartbreak, there is no doubting that she is a singer who will want to be presented in a similar way in her album covers. In the two images to the right, the dark colours provide connotations of negativity as well as a mundane sort of feel to them. This is telling of her own music as it provides listeners to be able to relate to their personal experiences of love as a means of dealing with what they are going through. Furthermore, the use of close ups of Adele show us that she is not frightened to show the audience how she feels. This is, again, symbolic of the music she sings as it does exactly that. As a result of the aforementioned points, Adele's primary target audience is undoubtedly women over the age of 20 years old. This age demographic means that the age of listeners will most likely be able to relate to what Adele is singing about - i.e being left heartbroken by their boyfriend, girlfriend or partner.

Although, at first glance, audiences may get the impression that Adele is a lonely and vulnerable character, there is reason to suggest something completely opposite to that. For example, the images to the left show her in dark shadows and with make up on her face to contrast that darkness. Thus, a clear juxtaposition is created in the mise en scene, suggesting that she is an artist with a defiance and strength - providing female audiences with a role model to potential heartbreak they may face in the future.

In addition, the fact that her name is as simple as 'Adele' suggests that she does not need anything bigger to make her seem like something she is not. This, again, shows that she is a strong and determined character.

In complete contrast, Adele's mode of address to the public is much different to that of her singing. Her public appearances of television often consist of taboo language and cockney rhyming slang. As a result, a much wider audience is created as it shows her as a much more relatable character to men as well as women.
